The Origins of Luukos
Volume I of the History of Luukos (version 2 revised August 19th 2006)
Written by Parasitic, Angerona & Deicide.

Within life Luukos was a powerful Sorcerer, whose power rivaled even Medivh. It was within his death that he surpassed the powers of all others. Having sacrificed his life for the gift of knowledge, Luukos became a Demi-god who chooses to bide much of his time within the Spirit world.

He calls forth to all members of the Horde who will hear his word in a crusade to destroy all Alliance. The reasons for Luukos' grudge towards the Alliance is unknown though some have rumored that when Luukos obtained his freedom from the bindings of the mortal world, he was shunned as an abomination and excommunicated. All of his work would be for naught, and his ego would not allow his legacy to die.

The true history of Luukos is shrouded in mystery though bits of information have surfaced.

Before the plague hit the lands, Luukos was a an extraordinary Human. He was the type of person who was ambitious and charismatic, always looking to further his goals. Accomplishing his goals easily enough; he became bored. Though there was one burden he could never overcome: time. As Luukos aged he realized his own mortality and began to feverishly search for a cure for the burden of life.

Luukos secretly already specialized in demonic magics, but fearing he would run out of time to solidify his legacy, he began learning the banned art of necromancy in the hopes that it would unlock the secrets of life and death. Luukos would often disappear for days, his family never really knowing much of his adventures; but it was on these adventures that he used his demonic might to gain necromantic secrets. Luukos was alone and able to research all things demonic and necromantic by experimenting with his new abilities.

Through Luukos' research and frequent brushes with demonic elements and necromantic beings, he began to change. Through his charismatic personality he was able to hide what he was becoming from his family and those whom he came across in his travels. Traits like mercy and compassion were slowly being drained from his soul while his desperation to prolonged his existence.

When the plague ravaged the lands, those closest to Luukos began to wrongly suspect that he had fallen victim to it. The changes in Luukos which had previously gone un-noticed were now becoming apparent. Those closest to him began to take notice of his features and attributes similar to the undead beings created by the plague.

It was then that Luukos decided that he must slay those closest to him to display that He and his powers were far more destructive than the plague. Since compassion and mercy had already left him, it wasn't the deed that troubled him; it was the method which he would use to kill his family and closest friends that he pondered into the following morning. It needed to be a grand display worthy of Luukos' ego.

When the roosters crowed, the family slowly began to gather in the dining hall as customary each morning. It was there that Luukos sat, his food untouched and announced that they should have a dinner party for the family and closest friends that same evening. His goal would be to trick everyone into thinking he was feeling better. The invitations were quickly dispatched by couriers and preparations began.

About an hour into the party, Luukos excused himself for some fresh air and exited the house. At this time he found a private location where he began the summoning ritual. Upon the completion of the summoning, Luukos returned to the party and called for everyone's attention. As he stood at the entrance, all eyes upon him, he requested everyone lift their drink in a toast. It was here Luukos spoke, "It is with great regard that I welcome my closest friends and my loving family with me here this evening. I ask that everyone take a sip of their drinks..." Luukos paused while they all drank, then continued to speak, "...for it shall be your last."

Immediately, Luukos spoke demonic words, commanding his summoned demon to enter the parlor. An infernal quickly barged into the room and began to wreak havoc on the party and those gathered. Within moments, the infernal's job was complete. There was blood everywhere, as if Luukos had painted a horrid portrait of destruction with blood, intestine, and the rest of the mangled body parts strewn across the room. None escaped with their lives.

Luukos had crossed the point of no return by making the ultimate choice in destroying the people he once loved. He would have no explanation as to what had happened, so Luukos made no attempt to cover up the atrocity that he had committed. Instead, taking pride in his actions, Luukos took hold of his wife's spleen and tore it from her body. Using the organ as a brush, Luukos wrote his confession upon the wall...

"A warning to all who oppose Luukos."

His legacy had been solidified that evening. The news of the massacre spread through Azeroth like wild fire. It would be many months before Luukos would be seen again. The plague began to spread further causing the hunt for Luukos to subside so that militia may return to defend their homes and care for their ailing families.

No longer being chased, Luukos had the opportunity the gain the information necessary to finally become immortal. The plague that was consuming the races of Azeroth would be refined and used by Luukos as the final component for eternal life. Using the refined plague, Luukos sacrificed his own life to be reborn anew, but still possessing his own free will.

Now undead, and immortal, Luukos isolated himself deep within a hidden cave, where his demonic experiments grew darker and in power and frequence. Just like the Apothecaries of the Undercity now, Luukos often tested his skill on living subjects. It is rumored that this was a technique he had invented. Luukos took pleasure in toying with anyone who came near to his hidden sanctuary. He almost looked forward to it.

Stories of torture and horrid experiments of demonic magic and alchemy on living animals and people spread like wild fire in the very villages and cities Luukos would visit in disguise to restock supplies... perhaps also stalking his next victims. It wasn't long before the town's people got wise and came after Luukos. From the entrance of his cave, he could see torches of towns people night after night searching for him. They knew he lived in the caves but they were not sure where. Night after night Luukos saw them coming closer and though Luukos would destroy a few of those who sought to destroy him, their numbers grew.

Luukos knew it wouldn't be long before he was found and even with the tremendous might which Luukos possesses, there is still greater power in numbers. Luukos knew he would soon have to flee but it was too late. The villagers had found his lair and a battle of several days began. It was like a cat and mouse game, with Luukos being the mouse and there being many feline after him.

Although many of the villagers fell to his fury and might, he grew weaker from the constant battle. The irony of Luukos' survival is that it was not his demonic magic that saved him, however his charismatic personality and ability to persuade others. Luukos had stumbled across five unknowing adventurers seeking gold and power. They knew nothing of him or the furious battles which had been raging on for days.

Using their delusions of grandeur, Luukos persuaded the five adventurers to assist him in destroying his foes. These adventurers, perhaps hypnotized by his powers, accompanied Luukos through the country side, heading for a haven within a nearby forest. It was during this journey that Luukos began to convert them to his way of thinking. When he was sure that these adventures would be loyal to him, Luukos allowed their haven to be found by those hunting him. The final battle had begun.

While fighting side by side with the adventurers, Luukos grew stronger with every life taken through the efforts of these adventurers, as if the souls of the fallen were absorbed by Luukos. The strength of Luukos could visibly be seen as an aura grew around him, made of shining negative energy. Luukos' muscles slightly rippled, his veins swelling and becoming abundantly visible through his rotted flesh, more and more with each fallen soul.

It is fabled by the few villagers who were intentionally allowed to flee with their lives, that the five adventurers and Luukos triumphed almost unscathed. The horrible acts which the surviving villagers had witnessed scarred them for life, some even took their own lives. It is said that Luukos and his companions took joy in the "overkill" of their victims, slaughtering them mercilessly. Rumors spread that Luukos and at least two of his new followers gorged themselves on the bodies of their victims. The heads of the fallen villagers were used as projectiles by Luukos as a warning for those who would seek revenge.
