Role Playing Guide for the Cult of Luukos on the World of Warcraft

A quick description of "role playing" would simply be: "You are not you. You are your character on the screen. Place yourself into that person's mind set and personality."

Role playing is like acting. It is developing a history and biography for your character then acting out on that history. Developing a role playing character is more than just developing your characters skills, it is developing their personality as well.

Role Playing rules: Guild chat, Say chat, Yell chat are all IN CHARACTER. Party chat and General chat are optional and usually OUT OF CHARACTER.

In Character (IC) chat means you speak as your character and do not discuss real world events or items such as computers or sports teams. Also you do not discuss game mechanics such as levels, DPS or armor ratings.

Out of Character (OOC) chat means you can discuss anything and everything including game mechanics, sports teams etc.. HOWEVER when speaking out of character, it is important to note that the comment is OOC. To note that a comment is OOC, you either start with "OOC:" or you surround your text with some sort of bracket such as "(( ))".

Two examples of OOC chat are below:

  • OOC: Is it better to train in leather crafting or blacksmithing as a rogue?
  • ((Is it better to train in leather crafting or blacksmithing as a rogue?))

Please note: It is strictly forbidden to speak OOC in guild chat.

Quick Role Playing tips for simple role playing: The following tips are possible methods of role playing and are not necessarily a must, but are some methods which will allow you to develop your character's unique personality.

  • Adopt a pet.
  • Talk with an accent or a lisp.
  • Develop strong feelings (love or hate) for one race, class or profession.
  • Use a distinct vocabulary. (Act stupid or extremly intelligent)
  • Say a prayer to Luukos before a raid or instance also after you have killed an alliance.

Role playing can be simple and easy or as complex as you want it to be. Just remember that you are your character and evrything will be ok!
